Overview

Please find below a draft copy of the Council’s updated Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan for the period 2018-2019.  Consultees are asked to comment on the Action Plan and whether or not they believe further action measures should be considered for inclusion.

On 25 March 2015, the Equality Commission approved the Council’s Equality Scheme.  The Council made a commitment in its Equality Scheme to develop an Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan.  This is the Council’s second Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan and it is for the period 2018-2019.  Measures that have been included in the Plan cut across the majority of Council functions and inequalities are addressed by section 75 group and include associated performance indicators and timescales to address the inequalities identified.  The Council believes that the measures included are likely to have the biggest impact on equality of opportunity and good relations.

Why We Are Consulting

The Council’s first Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan was for the period 2015-2017.  The plan required updating so the opportunity was taken to align the Council’s second Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan which is for the period 2018-2019 with the themes of the Borough’s Community Plan ‘Connected’ 2017-2030, the Council’s Corporate Plan ‘Making it Happen’ 2018-2023 and the Council’s Performance Improvement Objectives 2018-2019.

What Happens Next

The consultation has now closed.  All responses will now be considered and a final Audit of Inequalities and Equality Action Plan will be presented to the Council for approval.  The final documents will then be published on our website.
