Agriculture Strategy - Post Launch Survey
Overview
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough (ABC) Council launched the ABC Agriculture Strategy on 9 March 2022.
Emerging from exploring the key themes outlined in the main document, and following engagement with council departments, key stakeholders, farmers and businesses, ten practical and achievable recommendations have been identified;
- Expand and evolve Food Heartland
- Develop a method of communicating regularly and clearly with all agriculture and agribusinesses in the borough
- Develop a plan to facilitate skills development in agriculture and agribusinesses
- Appoint ’Agriculture Champions’ for the borough
- Develop an ’Agriculture Centre’ for advice, training, demonstrations, and research
- Facilitate structural upgrading
- ABC rural strategy
- Further studies in sectors related to the agriculture industry
- Agri-food development
- Promote the health and wellbeing of farmers and rural dwellers

What happens next
The feedback received during this consultation will be considered in the action plan and implementation of strategy and will be subject to funding and availability of resources.

Council would like to engage with the Agriculture Industry (farmers and businesses) in the implementation and delivery of recommendations from this strategy and would be grateful if you would complete the Agri Engagement Form found in the link below;
The Council will process this information in line with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) requirements.
Findings and data from this survey will be shared and analysed with the Councils appointed consultant (Birnie Consultancy) as a third party who are acting as employed by Council on the Agriculture Strategy project.
