Cemetery Service Consultation
Overview
Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council (ABC) operates 15 cemeteries (view map here).
Demand for Council cemetery plots is expected to increase as the Borough population continues to grow and as church burial grounds run out of space.
The management of the ABC Council cemeteries is governed by the Council’s Cemetery management rules and regulations. These were reviewed in 2025, and the updated document can be found below
A range of choices of burial options has become available to residents across the cemeteries. Not all options are available in all the cemeteries:
- Traditional with kerb sets/surrounds
- Lawn cemeteries/lawn sections
- Children and babies
- Multi Faith areas
- Cremated remains
In 2025, we developed a draft Cemetery Strategy for the Borough, and we want to hear your views and feedback on the proposed Strategy (below)
The associated Equality Screening and Rural Needs Impact Assessment form can be found here.
All feedback will be reviewed for consideration by the Executive Management Team (EMT), before being presented to the Environmental Services Committee for consideration, with ratification at Full Council after.
