Get moving ABC
Overview
As part of the Community Plan for Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, the Get Moving ABC Partners (Council, Education, Health, Community Volunteer Sector) are developing a collaborative framework to engage everyone in physical activity and get them moving.
We are focusing our efforts on communities, workplaces and schools.
Why your views matter
Physical Activity is any activity that raises your heart rate. In the Southern Health and Social Care Trust only 51% of people meet the recommended physical activity levels.
For good health children should aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day and adults should participate in either 75 minutes of vigorous activity or 150 minutes of moderate activity per week. More is better but something is better than nothing!
Our overall aim is to ‘Get Everyone Moving’. Moving is good for your physical, mental health and wellbeing.
We would like to understand more about peoples current levels of physical activity and the reasons why people do not particpate in physical activity.
The Council is committed to its equality and good relations duties as set out under section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and also has due regard for people living in rural areas under the Rural Needs Act (NI) 2016.
As part of this consultation we are committeed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to tell us what they think and we are committed to listening.
