Overview

We’re competing to become UK City of Culture 2025!

This is the First Place. Originality is in our DNA. We are innovative thinkers and we’re also growers – nurturing food, ideas, people and traditions in equal measure. For centuries we have led the way in journeys of discovery. As we build a bid in the competition for UK City of Culture 2025, we will awaken interest, knowledge, passion and excitement for what we have to offer. We will make a positive impact across the UK and beyond. We want to create new stories of thought and innovation, using every creative means at our disposal.

What does culture mean?

There are many definitions of culture but for the purposes of this survey and our future planning a broad definition of culture includes:

In short, culture is the way we live our lives!

Why your views matter

Why your opinion matters!

We want to hear from you: the innovative thinkers; the growers; the experts of this place. What does culture mean to you? What are your ideas for this place? What does the future hold?

Your opinion matters – we need your ideas, help and support to get this right.  It’s important to us that the final bid reflects the needs and desires of the people in our community, our diaspora, our businesses, our cultural and historic ambassadors, and people from all ethnic backgrounds and traditions.

Information from this survey alongside other engagement will be used in the development of the bid which will be submitted by the 02 February 2022.
